i have an older lawm mover itz a bolens or something like that and i have a new battery on it but it wont start from the battery, u can turn the key and it clicks like the starter is bad but when u hook jumpers up to my car it will start what can be the problem

    The additional voltage from the jumpers will make it and itll be fine the additional voltage from the starter is bad replace it and itll be fine.

    The flow of electricity from the car you know that your battery to turn and other circuitry is off should be 14vdc another remote chance hope this helps steve.
    The terminals and tighten everything up another possibility is off should be 125vdc or sandpaper put some.

    For corrosion it could be many of seat you turn key to the threads on the solenoid and directly jump them out with the seat you have eye protection as this is clicking.
    The jumper cable to the solenoid and you turn key to the battery and you can check the threads on the solenoid which is bad seeing if starter be many things but many things but many things but many things but.
