Lawn mower torque rating?

Posted by admin
dreamzgirl asked:

I need to buy a lawn mower, but I know nothing about how torque rating affects performance. I have seen several lawn mowers with the same horse power that have different torque ratings. Is more torque automatically better?

The area I want to mow is relatively flat and small (apx. 1/8 acre). I just want a standard, push-behind gas mower, but I want it to last. I was looking at the Craftsman mowers at Sears. Any advice on what I should be looking for?

    1. close_enough_4_ska Says:

Torque is a measure of rotational power. It controls the power that moves the blade in a push behind mower.

    2. A Well Lit Garden Says:

The lower torque will work less than the higher torque mower this means it will work less than the engine should last longer.
